005 CONCEPT 2018-NOW Index
Clans.gg logo

Clans.gg

A central hub for gaming clans to get found and recruit.

// 01 Context

Clans.gg is a long-running product concept from 2018: a central website where gaming communities can publish who they are, get discovered, and recruit new members in one place.

Clans still live across Discord, socials and half-finished spreadsheets. The idea has always been a proper portal for roster, games, platforms, applications and events, connected to the tools teams already use.

// 02 The problem

Small competitive teams have the same needs as larger organisations (roster, recruitment, scheduling, identity) with none of the tooling budget.

Anything that requires heavy setup dies before it delivers value, because these groups form and dissolve constantly.

// 03 What I built

  • Clan identity

    Direction toward shareable clan portals for roster, games and platforms.

  • Discovery

    How clans advertise and get found without becoming another unused listing site.

  • Community tooling

    Applications, events and growth tools connected to platforms clans already use.

// 04 Architecture

CLIENT

APPLICATION

INTEGRATIONS

STATE

Held as a concept while other products shipped. Intended stack stays Laravel + React/Inertia with Discord in the mix.

// 06 Interesting problems

  1. 01

    Zero-setup value

    Any flow that requires an admin to configure something before value appears is a flow that kills the product.

  2. 02

    Directory vs tooling

    Still deciding whether the useful product is discovery, operational tooling, or both.

// 08 Status / next

Active concept since 2018. Not a shipped product yet. Documented here because the problem is still worth solving.

  • Validate discovery vs tooling
  • Ship a minimal public surface
  • Discord-connected onboarding
